It is one of the biggest problems that the Gunners are facing at the moment. The contract situation of Aaron Ramsey is one of the few issues that is affecting the club and a solution to it has to be found sooner rather than later.
Speaking to the Sunday Telegraph, Arsenal’s Head Of Football, Raul Sanllehi had some thoughts on the whole contract saga surrounding the Welshman.
This is what Sanllehi had to say about Ramsey:
“I do believe that a player’s contract should never go to the last year, as a policy. We don’t take decisions overnight, on a quick reflection.”
“We really go through not only a long period of thinking but also a lot of people are involved. There are no decisions that are left to the last minute. When we reach a decision, it is for a reason.”
This seems like an indication that the decision taken by the club is final and that the midfielder may be on his way out of the club. But, we cannot say that for sure as we will have to wait and see what happens.
The primary aim for the Gunners this season will be to get back into the Champions League and for that to happen, the contribution of players such as Ramsey is needed.
So, it is better if the club is able to reach a definitive conclusion to this contract saga as it is sure to make the fans feel a little bit better.
The next few matches will be a true test of what kind of team Arsenal have become under manager Unai Emery. They will be a stern test of the team’s capabilities and everyone associated with the club will be hoping that the team does well.
It is in times such as this that players like Ramsey have to step up and be counted and show why he is demanding the kind of contract that he wants. But for that to happen smoothly, the contract situation has to be resolved as well.
