Alexis Sanchez who is on international duty with Chile has revealed a crucial update on the injury he suffered during training yesterday.
The Chilean has not traveled with the squad for their game against Colombia tomorrow, however the forward confirmed to a Chilean newspaper El Mercurio that he is fine and will be ready for their next game against Uruguay next Tuesday.
It is hurting a bit but I’m fine. I’ll be back for Tuesday.
The Chilean superstar has been in wonderful form this season, and is already the Gunners top scorer this season with eight goals and seven assists.
The 27-year-old has already made 15 appearances for the North London club in all competitions this season and has prospered playing upfront in the absence of Olivier Giroud.
El Mercurio further threw some light on the extent of the forward’s injury and claimed the extent of damage will only be known after 24 hours. A close source told the publication:
The ultrasound was performed immediately. The doctors commented that with these injuries you must wait 24 hours to determine the recovery time, because the tear evolves.
If it’s nine millimetres today then it could be eleven tomorrow [Wednesday].
The star was initially expected to miss at least 4 weeks, but it seems Sanchez is confident that the injury is just a niggle and he can recover in a matter of days.
The fitness of the Chilean most certainly occupies the mind of Wenger. He has a definite tendency to push his body to its limits, regardless of whether it can handle the physical demands.
The fitness of Sanchez is of utmost priority for Arsenal as they have some tough fixtures lined-up in the next few weeks and missing your best player will definitely be a big blow for the North London club.
However, the latest update will be a huge relief for Wenger and the fans. Hopefully he can return back to the club next week without any major issues.
