Arsenal are facing the prospect of losing Alexis Sanchez this summer with Bayern Munich prepared to make him the highest-paid player at the Allianz Arena.
Sanchez’s representative Fernando Felicevich met up with the Bavarian officials earlier last month, and it is suggested that the move could be on with Carlo Ancelotti keen on adding a world-class attacker to his ranks.
According to The Mirror, the Gunners may have faint hopes of keeping Sanchez beyond the summer with Bayern prepared to pay up wages of around £350,000 a week to acquire his signature.
Poland international Robert Lewandowski currently commands the highest salary at £300,000 a week, but Bayern are willing to offer Sanchez significantly more in order to show his importance.
The FA Cup holders have already placed a £275,000 weekly package on the table in a desperate bid to extend Sanchez’s contract, but the Chilean appears to be leaning towards the Bavarian giants due to the Gunners’ lack of Champions League football.
Arsenal won nine of the last ten matches in the English top flight, but this was not sufficient to clinch a top-four finish as they fell a point short of Liverpool, who held on for the final Champions League spot.
Bayern Munich are likely to table a fee of around £40m for Sanchez, who has just over a year left on his present deal at the Emirates.
Sanchez celebrated his best-ever season in professional football last term as he notched 30 goals and assisted a further 15 across all competitions for Arsene Wenger’s side.
