North London giants Arsenal are among the top clubs in contention to sign Alexandre Lacazette in the summer, French journalist Julien Laurens claims.
The France international has been a consistent performer for Lyon over the years, and he looks set to part ways with Les Gones in the summer transfer window.
Lacazette has netted over 20 goals in each of his previous three seasons, and he is now on the verge of attaining his first 30-goal campaign in the French Ligue 1.
The 25-year-old had been heavily tipped to join Arsene Wenger’s men at the start of the campaign, but unfortunately, a deal could not be finalized with Les Gones owner Jean-Michel Aulas deeming the Gunners’ £30m offer to be below their expectation.
Lacazette has since had a stop-start season through injury, but this has not dented his progress with 27 goals across all competitions including 22 in as many games in the domestic league.
Earlier in the month, the France international admitted that he could be tempted by a new challenge, and Laurens has added more spark to the speculation by claiming that the marksman could be sold in the £40m to the £50m range this summer.
Arsenal are not the sole club keen in the forward-minded player with arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool also said to be weighing up bids for the Frenchman.
“He could go to England – whether that’s Arsenal, Liverpool or Tottenham I don’t know,” Laurens told BT Sport. “They will have to pay around £40/£50million for him.”
French champions Paris Saint-Germain also remain a probable option for the summer, but the striker is said to favour a fresh challenge abroad where he could prove his credentials.
Lacazette is currently under contract at Lyon until the summer of 2019, but the club would prefer cashing in on his signature this summer as they seek to attain the maximum value from the sale.
