Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain attacker Lucas Moura during this summer’s transfer window. The Brazil international is facing an uncertain future at Parc des Princes following the world-record signing of Neymar.
Unai Emery’s side sealed a stunning £198m deal to recruit Neymar from Barcelona earlier this month, and this has generated doubts over the future of Moura, who could be sold at the right price.
Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte claims that the Gunners hold a keen interest in the former Sao Paulo graduate for whom they have already failed with an initial approach.
The former French champions are looking for a fee of around £27m for the 24-year-old, who finds the additional competition from the likes of Angel di Maria and Julian Draxler for a wing position.
Arsenal have been unsuccessful in their pursuit of Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, but a move for Moura will surely come as a surprise as he has not been linked with the Gunners all summer.
Arsene Wenger looks to have won his battle to keep hold of Alexis Sanchez for the season, and this probably reduces the need for a new attacker with the likes of Theo Walcott, Alex Iwobi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain capable of putting in performances.
Moura has managed over 200 appearances for Les Parisiens since arriving from Sao Paulo in the winter of 2013. He enjoyed his best season under Unai Emery last term as he notched 19 goals in 53 appearances for the French heavyweights.
The Brazilian has two years left on his existing deal with Paris Saint-Germain, and his availability is also attracting interest from a whole host of Serie A clubs.
