Arsene Wenger was asked at his press conference this morning how close Arsenal are to making more signings before the transfer window closes next week.
Despite the poor start, Wenger did have some good news for Arsenal fans as he confirmed two new signings are 99 percent done.
Arsenal have agreed to meet Perez’s £17m buy-out clause at Deportivo and have reached an agreement with Valencia of around £35m for Mustafi.
The Frenchman also spoke about Arsenal’s recent injury concerns and confirmed that Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud could both start the match.
At his press conference ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Watford tomorrow, Wenger did not deny his stunning double swoop. He said,
We are working on the deals, but we are not close enough to announce today,
Will we sign anyone before the window closes? I’m 99 percent confident.
I’m more optimistic than before but I can’t announce anything yet.

Arsenal have already signed Granit Xhaka (£34m), Rob Holding (£2m), Kelechi Nwakali (£3m) and Takuma Asano (£800,000), but the captures of Perez and Mustafi will be met with relief from fans.
He also said he expected a busy deadline day, a possible hint that Arsenal’s business may not be complete after Mustafi and Perez. Wenger also confirmed that Calum Chambers is likely to be loaned out.
Arsenal have needed a striker and a defender all summer, but Wenger has repeatedly cited inflated prices in the transfer market to explain his reluctance to spend big. Wenger spending £100m in a single transfer window is no less than a miracle but he has silenced his doubters with the double swoop.
Now the next aim should be the Premier League. Can we win it or should we be satisfied with another year of runners up ?
