Arsenal are on the verge of completing their second signing of the summer after Nigerian starlet Kelechi Nwakali confirmed that he has joined the Emirates club.
The striker has been long linked with a move to the Gunners and it seems it won’t be long before the move will be officially announced by Arsenal.
Nwakali was first seen at the Emirates in January when he met Wenger and according to reports the move was more or less finalized then, however due to the FIFA regulations a formal transfer can only be completed after a player turns 18.
The player has now come out in the open to confirm the move to London on his official Facebook Profile.
He posted photos of him alongside Koscielny and Wenger, along with a pic of him holding an Arsenal jersey with his name.
Here is his Facebook post.
Nwakali who celebrated his 18th birthday last weekend can feature in the attacking midfielder role and also upfront.
The striker put in brilliant performances leading his country to success at the Under-17 World Cup in Chile last year where he was also adjudged the competition’s best player.
His talent was immediately obvious, and it wasn’t long before Arsenal who have long-standing links with the under-17 World Cup.
The Gunners signed Fabregas a month after he was voted the tournament’s best player in 2003 and Carlos Vela a month after he finished as top scorer in 2005, were being linked with both the teenager and his teammate Samuel Chukwueze.
The youngster has an impressive range of passing, he’d slot in well, and has an energetic presence meaning that he would be a good fit to play alongside a more experienced midfielder in the centre.
He might not be effective this season, but you cannot rule that out considering Iwobi who burst onto the big stage last season, with some impressive performances.
