Besiktas president Fikret Orman is due to arrive in the English capital in order to propose a summer agreement for Arsenal outcast Joel Campbell.
The Costa Rica international has barely featured for the north London over the years, and he looks on course to leave the Emirates with his contract due to expire in 12 months’ time.
Turkish outlet Fotospor claims that Orman will hold discussions with several Premier League clubs in the coming week as he plans to bring a couple of quality players to his ranks.
Campbell who currently earns £30,000-a-week is said to be highly-rated by the Black Eagles, and the club are hoping to lure him to Istanbul with the prospect of featuring in next season’s Champions League.
Besiktas celebrated their second Super Lig title following a win over Osmanlıspor last night, and this assures them of a place in the group stage of the Europe’s elite cup competition.
However, the Turkish heavyweights could still face a potential tussle from newly-promoted Brighton & Hove Albion, who are hoping to lure Campbell with the promise of Premier League football, as per The Sun.
The former Saprissa lad spent multiple loan spells away from Arsenal during his initial playing career as he failed to acquire a working visa to feature for the north London club.
However, when he got his chance during the 2015-16 season, he was up against real competition with Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alex Iwobi restricting his playing time on the right wing.
Campbell has appeared in just 23 league outings for the Gunners to date, and a permanent exit looks a distinct possibility with the player likely to want more gametime in preparation for the World Cup finals in Russia next year.
