Earlier, reports had emerged that Arsenal were in contact with Fiorentina to sign Dusan Vlahovic. However, Goal journalist Charles Watts has claimed that the striker is not being targeted by the club.
The 21-year-old has been on fire since his breakthrough last season and has emerged as the leader of the Florence club. Strong in the air and an excellent finisher, the Serbian is developing into a top class forward.
With Vlahovic’s contract set to end in the summer of 2023, Fiorentina are looking to sell him in January. And as per Di Marzio, the Italian club are asking for a base fee of around €80 which the north Londoners are reportedly ready to pay.
But journalist Charles Watts had something different to say:
“Lots of talk about Vlahovic and Arsenal. My understanding of the situation is there have been no negotiations and he’s not a target. Signing a forward clearly will be high on the agenda next summer, but as it stands, he’s not one they are looking at.”

Arsenal Fever View:
It makes sense that the north Londoners are being linked with a young centre forward. With Lacazette’s contract ending at the end of this season and Aubameyang getting on in terms of age, a new presence is required.
And if you take a look around Europe, there are only a few players in this age bracket that can perform the role to Mikel Arteta’s liking. It should be someone who is mobile, able to hold the ball up and bring others into the game.
But if there is one sticking point, it is the price that is being quoted for the player. The Gunners would do well to look at other options before settling down on one. This investment has the potential to change the face of the club so, a lot of care must be taken.
Arsenal are in a good mood at the moment as they are fifth in the Premier League. The next challenge is to get back into the Champions League spots and even if that does not happen this season, with the help of a new striker it could happen soon.
