Arsene Wenger has been charged with improper conduct by the English Football Association for his outbursts and utterances towards the fourth official Anthony Taylor during the Burnley game at the Emirates.
According to Sky Sports, the Arsenal Boss has been given until the 26th of January to respond to the charge leveled against him. During Arsene Wenger’s post-match interview, he said:
I regret everything. I should have shut up, gone in and go home. I apologise for that.
“Look, it was nothing bad. I said something that you hear every day in football. Overall nine times out of 10 you are not sent to the stand for that.
If I am, I am, and I should have shut up completely. I was quite calm the whole game, more than usual, but just (not) in the last two or three minutes
Let’s be honest, that game got adulterated clearly as a result of over-zealous officiating. Agreed Jon Moss and Granit Xhaka cannot coexist without a red card coming in between them but what was the deal with Anthony Taylor?
I don’t believe I have ever seen a fourth official escort a manager that far off the pitch. Is it possible there was something deeper lying than just that game’s incident?
Research has shown that Jon Moss makes a bad decision that influences the outcome of the game on a 1.64 per game note. How is it possible he is still officiating games at such a senior level?
That stat on its own questions the integrity of the football association as regards to refereeing and the officials they approve to officiate matches.
Sincerely, I can’t imagine having a feeling fuelled by negative energy towards the officiating of that game in question(Arsenal vs Burnley at the Emirates), let alone as the manager of the club at the receiving end of the bad calls.
Just as in the Bournemouth game, despite the foul on Bellerin, the goal still stood whilst Xhaka was punished for similar contact at the other end resulting in a penalty for them.
Arsene Wenger is one of the calmest people you’ll ever find and annoyingly so at times. To see him lose his cool like that shoving Anthony Taylor’s hands away is quite shocking, to be honest. However, it is understandable.
Wenger might suffer a 3 match ban and a fine of around £12,000. Hopefully, this is the worst they do as Arsenal have a reputation of being used as a punching bag.
If he is given a 3 match ban, then he will be missing the Chelsea game at Stamford on the 4th of February. Not having him on touchline might be as bad as people think as he isn’t someone to be animated or toss tactical decisions during the game, however, the psychological effect it will have on the players is what remains unknown.
Till the next thought. ….
