According to gianlucadimarzio.com, Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Torino full back Bruno Peres, a Brazilian right-back who is also thought to be a target for Premier League champions Leicester City as they look to strengthen ahead of entering the Champions League.
Both Arsenal and Leicester City are keeping a close eye on 26-year-old Peres, with the Gunners believed to already made a firm offer.
At the moment, it is believed that the first offer from Arsenal was rejected due to it being too low. But it is said that Arsenal will surely come back with another offer. Leicester on the other hand are yet to formalise their interest.
Peres, under contract until 2020, has impressed for Torino since joining from Brazilian side Santos in 2014. However, both the player and the club are okay with the player leaving in the distant future. Whether that will indeed be to Arsenal or Leicester remains to be seen.
Peres has been a regular in Serie A ever since arriving in Italy, playing 34 times in his debut season. He made a further 31 appearances in 2015/16, starting 30 of those games and playing predominantly in a right wing-back position.
Known for his exceptional acceleration, pace, notable dribbling and a good shot from distance. In 2015–16, Peres was the defender that completed the most dribbles (83) across Europe’s top five leagues. With that, he also has a good scoring record scoring 3 in 2014/15 and 2 in 2015/16 season of Serie-A. The Brazilian made his mark with a stunning goal against Juventus in the Turin derby, running from one end of the pitch to the other.
Reports in Italy previously suggested Manchester City were interested but the club strongly denied having any interest.
Arsenal could be set for a revamp at right-back with Mathieu Debuchy and Carl Jenkinson facing uncertain futures while they have had to fend off interest from City for Hector Bellerin.
The 26-year-old arrived from Santos for €2m in September 2014, his price-tag has since sky-rocketed to around €15m.
He could be a nice deputy to Bellerin giving him competition for his spot and nothing else. Bellerin needs to be at Arsenal for years to come but as we all know, no player is bigger than the club and if the talks are right as anything can happen in football albeit Bellerin moving to Manchester then Peres could be the right man to fill the shoes of the young Spanish defender.
