The trusted BBC journalist claims that the 46-year-old Spaniard has been chosen as the “unanimous choice”
After Mikel Arteta was made the favourite to take the Arsenal job, this comes as a huge shock for most Arsenal fans.
The former PSG boss won four domestic trophies and the league title at the French giants. At his previous club, Sevilla he led the side to 3 consecutive Europa league victories. On April 28, Emery announced his decision to leave the Parisian club at the end of the season with a year left on his contract.
Emery would suit Arsenal’s playing style with the 46-year-old Spaniard also a huge admirer of the free-flowing attacking football for which the Gunners are famous for.
Even though Emery had a huge war chest at PSG, it was his impressive work with Sevilla on limited resources which has caught the eyes of the Arsenal hierarchy.
This may be seen as very positive for many fans who felt Mikel Arteta would not be experienced enough for the job, as Emery holds a vast wealth of experience of European football while remaining a fairly young manager at 46.
It is expected the club will announce the new manager later this week with a press conference to follow.
