Arsenal target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been urged by former national team-mate Daniel Cousin to switch to the Premier League giants, according to the Mirror.
Aubameyang has been on Arsenal’s radar for some time amidst interest from Real Madrid, Manchester United and Manchester City but Cousin believes his former team-mate would be a perfect signing for the North London club.
Cousin suggested that Aubameyang should move to a big club like Man United or Man City.
Speaking to BBC, Cousin said; I think he wants to move to England. The Premier League is a different style to Germany; it is more physical and for me it is a good moment for Pierre to move to a big club like Man Utd or Man City.”
“I think he can get more goals and get more experience with a big team.
But he followed it up by stating that signing for Arsenal would suit the forward the most.
“Arsenal! The team plays very well and Arsenal need a striker to win the title next season. I think if he plays with (Mesut) Ozil…. I think he can play very well with them.”
The Gabon international is heavily linked with a move from German Club Borussia Dortmund this summer and his national coach Jorge also has fueled speculations about his transfer, stating that the prolific striker has been excused from friendly matches against Mauritania and Ivory Coast as he is in the middle of a transfer.
The 26-year old star has been so impressive netting 39 goal in 46 appearance for the Bundesliga outfit this season.
The North London team obviously needs an established striker in the team. Danny Welbeck’s injury – which will keep him out of action for nine months- towards the end of last season added to the woes already being faced by the club up front due to Olivier Giroud inconsistency.
Arsenal hold the advantage over fellow English clubs. It is obvious Aubameyang would prefer to move to a club where Champions League football is guaranteed next season.
Man Utd can not offer him that after finishing fifth in the league last season and City already have Aguero and Kelechi, therefore they might not see the need to spend that amount on a striker.
However, Arsenal will still have to fend off competition from Real Madrid. I think he can get more goals and get more experience with a big team.
