Arsenal could be offered Thomas Lemar in a surprise cash deal which could involve Alexis Sanchez moving to AS Monaco this summer. The Principality outfit are prepared to offer £45m for the Chile international whilst also loosening their stance of not selling Lemar in the transfer window.
Sanchez has returned to first-team training following his break due to Confederations Cup duties, but his future still remains in doubt with his contract expiring in less than 12 months’ time.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has repeatedly stressed that the Chilean will honour the last year of his contract, but The Sun brings a fresh twist to the story with Monaco eyeing a deal for the 28-year-old forward.
The Principality outfit have garnered £150m from their sales this summer with the likes of Bernardo Silva, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Benjamin Mendy moving to the Premier League, and they are prepared to lodge a bid worth £45m in order to pursue the Gunners’ talisman.
Sanchez has previously insisted that he would like to ply his trade in the Champions League, and Monaco could use this to their advantage after they qualified for the competition via their Ligue 1 triumph last year.
Meanwhile, Lemar has been earmarked as the top option to bolster the Gunners’ attack this month, and Monaco could be willing to sanction an agreement, should they be allowed to a discuss a move for the former Barcelona ace.
Leonardo Jardim’s side are bracing themselves for a potential £160m bid from Real Madrid for Kylian Mbappe, and this has generated their interest in Sanchez, who could emerge as a suitable partner for Radamel Falcao up front.
Despite the speculation, Arsenal fans will be hoping that Arsene Wenger does not change his stance on Sanchez at any cost as he has previously let the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Thierry Henry and Robin van Persie leave after making similar promises.
