Arsenal are set to keep a close eye on Napoli attacker Lorenzo Insigne and AS Roma defender Kostas Manolas during the crunch Serie A clash this afternoon.
Both Roma and Napoli are vying for a top-three finish in the league – which guarantees a Champions League spot, and this could bring the best out of their players.
Italian news outlet Tuttomercato claims that the Gunners scouts will be in attendance on Saturday afternoon when two of Serie A’s best compete at the Stadio Olimpico.
Napoli’s Insigne is understood to be the top player in focus for the representatives while Roma’s Manolas is not far behind given his excellent progress at the Capital outfit.
Insigne has been identified as a potential replacement for contract rebel Alexis Sanchez this summer with the Chilean being linked with a £25.7m move to Juventus, according to Corriere dello Sport, via The Star.
Meanwhile, Manolas is the other on the Gunners’ focus this weekend with the club looking to add a top-class recruit at the heart of the defence for next term.
The Greece international had been the subject of an approach from north London giants prior to the start of the season, but their enquiry was swiftly rebuffed by the Giallorossi.
Though both players remain key to their respective clubs, it is understood that they could be offloaded this summer given the lack of progress in contract negotiations.
Insigne, currently valued at £44m, is said to demand a weekly wage package of around £100,000– nearly double of what is he is currently earning, and this has stalled talks over an extension to his existing deal – due to expire in 2019.
Manolas, on the other hand, appears to have snubbed discussions altogether as he looks to push through a move away from Roma during the summer transfer window. His contract also concludes at the end of the 2018/19 campaign.
Irrespective of this, Arsenal as the team, will be focused on their league trip to Liverpool later today as three points could seal their top-four and Champions League ambitions for next season.
