Arsenal return to Premier League action as they get ready to host Nottingham Forest this Sunday, so let’s take a look at the latest team news.
The Gunners had a night to forget in the Netherlands as they lost to PSV after a disappointing performance. And to get back to the top of the league, the hosts need to get the better of the team from Nottingham which will not be easy.
As for the team news, the major doubt is the availability of Alex Zinchenko who has not been a part of the last few games. Gabriel Magalhaes who limped off at full time in midweek has returned to training and could be available for the weekend.
Emile Smith Rowe is still out with a long-term injury but there is some news regarding another midfielder. The club has confirmed that Mohamed Elneny has returned to training earlier than expected and that is a big boost.
Having the Egyptian back gives Mikel Arteta another option to rotate in midfield and that will have an effect on selections going forward.
Arsenal Fever View:
For the north Londoners, it is imperative that they get the win as their last few games have not been that impressive. With not much time left till the World Cup, it is necessary to rack up as much points as possible.
Forest do have some talent that will cause the home defence problems especially the likes of Brennan Johnson and Jessie Lingard. The latter in particular has a great record against the Gunners and would be keen to do well again.
Creating chances has not been a problem for the Emirates side but they need to be more clinical in front of goal. Even someone as talented as Gabriel Jesus who does so much has not found the cutting edge.
This is going to be the difference between a win and a loss. Arteta would be hoping that the senior members of the squad are able to stand up and show that they can be counted upon.
Arsenal certainly have the talent needed to get the win and with the home support behind, would be favourites to do so. Forest do have some good players but will find it difficult to handle the quality and intensity of the north Londoners.
