Arsenal will face one of their toughest games of the season as they welcome Liverpool to the Emirates on Sunday, so let’s take a look at the latest team news.
The Gunners made it two wins out of two in the Europa League and sit on top of their group. They also sit at the top of the Premier League and will be full of confidence as the Reds make their way down south.
As for the team news, there are two long-term absentees in the form of Mohamed Elneny and Emile Smith Rowe. Not having the latter is an especially big blow as his directness can make or break tight games such as this.
The rest of the squad is looking good apart from Alex Zinchenko who could be a doubt for this game at least from the start. There will be a lot of changes that we can expect from the midweek as Mikel Arteta looks to keep his players fresh during this busy period of the season.
Arsenal Fever View:
Arsenal have remained the league leaders for quite some time, but the nature of the competition is such that they cannot afford to let up even for a moment. And with the visitors not looking too good at the moment, the signs point to a home win.
But it has to be noted that the Reds have a great record against the north Londoners in the recent past. And thanks to their wonderful attack, they are always going to be a danger and Liverpool too would want to show that they are still in the hunt for the title.
For the hosts, the focus has to be on exploiting the wings that have been a problem Jurgen Klopp and his men. Arteta should look to use the explosive pace and dribbling of Gabriel Martinelli to target Trent Alexander-Arnold as that can create a lot of chances.
It is not the end of the world for Arsenal if they do lose but getting a win would send ripples across the country. It will not be easy but the Gunners have shown that there is something different about this time round. All in all, this promises to be an enthralling experience.
