Arsenal still have an outside chance of qualifying for the Champions League when they host Everton on Sunday, so let’s take a look at the team news.
The Gunners lost to Newcastle United and that has seen Tottenham leapfrog them into the top four. With their north London rivals facing Norwich City, it is almost an impossible task for the hosts to make it to the Champions League.
As for the team news, both Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey will miss the final game of the season. The good news is that Rob Holding should be back in the squad after serving his suspension.
Takehiro Tomiyasu had to be substituted against Newcastle and could be unavailable for the final weekend. There might be a few changes from Mikel Arteta as he seeks to end the campaign with a win.
Arsenal Fever View:
At the start of the season, the prospect of finishing fifth would have been great for the north Londoners. But given how well they were playing until a month ago, not ending up in the top four has to be considered disappointing.
Although not all is lost and there is a chance that the hosts could still finish fourth, the chances of Tottenham losing to Norwich are quite slim. At the very least, Arteta would want his players to play with a lot more heart and passion.
It will not be easy, as the visiting side have nothing to lose after confirming their presence in the Premier League for one more year. The Toffees have some quality talent upfront that can cause problems.
Arsenal might not have had the best end to their campaign, but they have done really well to get to this position. If they can beat Everton, they do have a chance of finishing in the top four. Hopefully, it is a good final game for the club.
