Arsenal will kick off the new season with a renewed sense of optimism as they make the trip to Crystal Palace and with some new faces coming in, let’s take a look at the team news.
The 2021/22 season was an exciting one for the Gunners but it ultimately ended in a disappointing fashion. Mikel Arteta would want this campaign to go differently and the Spaniard will be hoping that his players are up to the task.
As for the team news, there are doubts over the availability of Kieran Tierney, Emile Smith Rowe and new signing Fabio Vieira. Takehiro Tomiyasu hasn’t recovered from a persistent injury and could miss out.
Among the new signings that are very likely to feature are the arrivals from Manchester City, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko. One player who will be making his debut, three years after signing for the north Londoners is William Saliba.
Arsenal Fever View:
The Gunners came close to Champions League qualification last year but lost out to their arch-rivals Tottenham. This season, with a lot more firepower and a better squad, the hope is that the players could go one better.
In particular, the signing of Gabriel Jesus should boost the attack. The Brazilian has the ability to bring others into the game and also find the back of the net. This should help the other attackers as well and could lead to more goals.
It was the visit to Selhurst Park that acted as a catalyst for the north Londoners downfall last season. It will be a tough test once again given the quality that Patrick Vieira has in his team.
There is a lot of hope going into this campaign, from the fans and everyone around the club. If the players can get a win in their Premier League opener, it will be a huge boost going forward.
Arsenal and Arteta will know how tough it is to play against Palace especially when they are backed by their passionate fans. If the visitors can play like they have in pre-season, there is a good chance that they will come back with the three points.
