Arsenal and their quest for the Premier League continues as they welcome Brighton and Hove Albion in what should be an exciting game, so let’s look at the latest team news.
The Gunners were a bit fortunate to get the better of Aston Villa, but they were clinical when it mattered. That should help them get ready for this encounter where the visitors will look to put a similar amount of pressure on the hosts.
Mikel Arteta confirmed that new arrival Mikel Merino has suffered an unfortunate shoulder injury during training and will be out for a few weeks. However, on the positive side the midfielder won’t miss many games with the international break coming up.
Gabriel Jesus is still out, but is progressing very well and could make a return to the squad very soon. The Spanish boss didn’t have an update on Tomiyasu as the defender is still in the early phase of recovery only.
Arsenal Fever View:
Brighton have traditionally been a team that likes to trouble the north Londoners, but last season showed a change in the tide. Arteta gave them a taste of their own medicine with his players executing some relentless pressing that was beautiful to see.
The onus of picking apart the visiting defence will be on captain Martin Odegaard as the Norwegian has the vision needed to do just that. If he can create chances for the likes of Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz, it should tilt the game in favour of the hosts.
Brighton do have some really exciting talents that can cause the home defence a few problems. The likes of Simon Adingra, Joao Pedro and Kaoru Mitoma have enough firepower to worry any defence. If this threat is nullified, a win becomes that much easier.
Arsenal need to go into the international break with a win otherwise it can seriously derail the momentum they are looking to build. The Gunners will have to play a lot of football this season so, it is necessary to get as many wins as possible. Getting the better of the Seagulls will not be easy but this team has enough talent to pull of a great result.
