Arsenal have reportedly submitted a bid to sign PSG left-back Layvin Kurzawa, according to reports in Spanish publication Sport.
The 27-year-old is out of contract in the summer and had a lot of suitors in January but the French club decided to keep him, despite the player making it absolutely clear that he will leave in the summer.
The report in Sport states that Arsenal and Napoli have made interesting bids for the French star. Barcelona are also in the race to sign the defender this summer but the Spanish club will have to sell Junior Firpo before making a move.
Firpo came from Spanish side Real Betis only last summer but has failed to impress during his short spell at the Catalonia club. As a result of this, they are looking to move him on and bring in another player who can play in that position.
If Arsenal were to get their man, he would be added to the left-back rank that includes Kieran Tierney and Sead Kolasinac. Injuries to the duo have seen manager Mikel Arteta make youngster Bukayo Saka play in an unfamiliar position this season.
Kurzawa could prove to be a very valuable addition to the squad as he has a lot of experience playing for two of France’s biggest clubs in PSG and Monaco.
The 27-year-old is also adept at helping the attacking side of things proven by the fact that he is the first defender to score a hat trick in the modern UEFA Champions League and as Arteta likes to make use of his full-back’s in building the attack, it will be helpful to have a player who is proficient in it.
Kurzawa might take longer to take a decision considering the current Coronavirus pandemic which is causing havoc around the world. Arsenal already making a move shows that they have a real interest in bringing the Frenchman to the Emirates and he is one player who will fit into the way the squad plays.
It will be interesting to see how the Gunners are able to beat off competition from others and get Kurzawa.
