Arsenal have tabled a bid for Santos striker Gabriel Barbosa and the Brazilian ace is tempted by a move to the Emirates Stadium, according to the reports from ESPN Brazil.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger boss has gone all out in the market to support Olivier Giroud next season and the boss is looking for alternative targets after missing out on Jamie Vardy who signed a new deal with the Premier League defending champions last week.
In recent weeks, the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Alexandre Lacazette have been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Earlier this month, the reports from Mirror claims that the Gunners were interested in signing Brazil’s next hot talent Gabriel Barbosa – aka Gabigol and it seems Wenger is about to renew our interest with a firm offer.
The reports from ESPN emerged today that the Gunners are one of three clubs who’ve put offers on the table for the 19-year-old ace striker, the others being Fiorentina and Hebei Fortune
The Brazil International confirmed that ‘big’ European clubs are interested but he’s in no rush to leave Santos.
“I’ve had offers from big European clubs that please me, yes, but that’s with my parents, my agents, but I’m happy at Santos. This will be resolved soon. Santos is my home, my place, but let’s take it easy to decide.”, Barbosa is quoted as saying by ESPN
The report stated that Gabigol’s release clause is set at around £15m(€18m) but they suggest that the Gunners’offer is actually higher than that figure.
Barbosa, 19, already snubbed a move to China so it looks like it’s between us and Fiorentina and the report suggests that Gabigol is interested in joining Arsenal because the Gunners one of Europe’s elite clubs.
Another possible thing that could scupper a possible deal could be the fact that player’s economic rights are divided between Santos, with 40%, Doyen Sports, with 20%, and the athlete himself, 40%, and these types of deals are always very difficult to pull off.
His dazzling footwork has drawn him comparisons to Neymar, Since Barbosa break to the first team in 2013 he has netted 50 goals in his 150 appearances for Santos and has being crowned the Brazil hottest young.
He’s a versatile forward who’s capable of playing either side or through the middle as a striker, so he’d offer plenty of options in the final third if he was to make the move to London.
