Despite the great start to the season, last term Arsenal ended the season without winning a single trophy.
In order to not repeat the same scenario next season, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has recently revealed that he is willing to sign some big names this summer.
The Premier League giants have already captured defensive midfielder Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach in a £30 million deal but it appears he will not be the only signing in the defensive section this summer.
Arsenal has been linked with Inter Milan centre-back Jeison Murillo as the North London club search for a defender continues. The Gunners are on the lookout for a defender as he plans to bolster that area of the team ahead of the coming season.
Per Mertesacker has a year left on his contract and his form is also a source of concern while Gabriel Pualista is yet to impress in the Premier League.
Italia outlet Gazzattea dello sport reported that Arsenal have joined other Premier League clubs like Everton, West Ham and Liverpool in vying for the signature of the Colombia international.
Mourillo, 24, was impressive in the heart of Inter’s defence last season as the Serie A club finished fourth and claimed the third best defensive record in the league (38) behind champion Juventus (20) and Napoli (32).
Gazzetta also reported that the former Udinese man could be available for £19 million. He moved to the San Siro from Spanish club Granada in a £6 million deal in January 2015 and made 35 appearances in all competitions for the Italian side last season and scored two goals.
The Emirates outfit have also been linked with Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma. The Express claimed that Wenger has had talks with the Stamford Bridge new boss over a possible move for the defender.
The 21-year-old is currently sidelined with an injury he sustained in February which ruled him out for the remaining of last season and EURO 2016. Italian journalist Emanuele Giuilianelli also tweeted about the transfer speculations. He tweeted:

Zouma is under contract with Chelsea till 2019 but with the blues failing to qualify for European competitions next season, the player could be tempted to consider switching to the Emirates. The French international is currently valued at £25million as per the reports from Mirror.
Will Kurt Zouma become the new Petr Cech? No, he’s not about to don the gloves, but he could be following the goalkeeper’s path to Arsenal, Arsène Wenger said to have made contact with Chelsea about signing the commanding centre-back.
