Arsenal are reportedly prepared to reward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with a new-and-improved contract amid the fresh interest from the Chinese Super League.
The Gabon international was one of the standout performers for the team during the previous campaign and he ended the season with a tally of 31 goals while winning the Premier League Golden Boot.
Owing to such form, the likes of Shanghai SIPG are prepared to reward him with a bumper £300,000-a-week deal to head to the Far East but the Gunners remain determined to keep him with an improved contract offer of their own.
According to The Sun, the north London side are willing to extend the contract of the 29-year-old forward with his existing deal due to expire in two years’ time.
The same outlet reveals that the marksman could be rewarded with a 12 percent increase on his current wages (£180,000-a-week) thus meaning that he could earn more than £200,000 on a weekly basis.
Aubameyang could not help the Gunners conclude the season on a bright note as they succumbed to a rather embarrassing 4-1 defeat to Chelsea in the Europa League final.
Still, it cannot be disregarded that he has sparkled in partnership with Alexandre Lacazette and he has plenty of more goals in his bag despite approaching his 30th birthday.
As such, it seems a no-brainer to extend his deal beyond the summer of 2021 but the same may not be the case with other key players within the first-team squad.
Mesut Ozil, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Shkodran Mustafi are among the other players whose contracts expire in 2021, but The Mail has recently indicated that Emery could be willing to part ways with the trio to enhance the summer budget.
