We are in the final days of the transfer window so it is only natural that there are a lot of rumors flying around regarding potential deals.
Arsenal always get linked to a number of players and this window has been no different. Another name that has been thrown into the mix as per reports in Sun, is the Croatian player Domagoj Vida who currently plays for Besiktas in Turkey. The deal is said to cost the Gunners as much as £25m.
But for this to happen, there have to be some players leaving the club, otherwise, Arsenal will not really have the funds to buy the Croatian. There are two members that are thought to be on their way out and they are Shkodran Mustafi and Danny Welbeck.
The name of Mustafi is interesting as it seems that Vida would arrive as a direct replacement for the German.
The Gunners already have a good number of center backs at the club and given that they are not going to be playing a 3 man back line, it appears that there are one too many.
Sorting out the defense is without a doubt one of the biggest challenges that new manager Unai Emery will face. The Gunners have done something to fix that with the signings of Stephan Lichtsteiner and Sokratis who are very much unlike the players that Arsenal usually buy.
Vida is coming off the back of reaching the World Cup final where he was an important member of the Croatian team. His partnership with Dejan Lovren was a big reason as to why they were able to reach the final. And even though he has been impressive in the recent past, it is tough to see Arsenal buying another center back who is approaching 30.
There are very few days left in the transfer window so if anything were to happen, it should happen very soon. If the Gunners were to get Vida, he will surely add some experience and tenacity to the Arsenal defense.
