Arsenal have reached an agreement to complete a transfer deal for Portuguese defender Nuno Tavares, as per Fabrizio Romano.
The left-back emerged as a target for the Gunners who are on the lookout for a deputy to Kieran Tierney. Not having someone cover for the Scot proved to be a huge issue last season.
According to Romano, both teams have come to an agreement after having held positive talks over the past couple of days. The transfer fee is around €8m along with some additional add-ons.
Romano had earlier revealed that Tavares wanted to join the Gunners and that, personal terms will not be an issue. Now, the journalist has confirmed that these terms and agent-related fees have also been agreed upon.

The speed with which this transfer is set to be completed is quite heart-warming to see. It shows that the north Londoners when they want to, can get things done quickly and find ways to enhance their squad.
Before this summer, one of the key components that needed to be looked upon was finding a cover for Tierney. Despite the brilliance of the Scot, he has been a little injury-prone ever since arriving from Celtic.
And last season, that happened at a crucial time and Mikel Arteta was forced to use Granit Xhaka as a left-back. But signing a player such as Tavares fixes that aspect and lets the manager be in peace, knowing that he has someone who can fill in if required.
One impressive aspect of this deal apart from the speed at which it is moving is the fee quoted. Getting a 21-year-old who is a hugely talented prospect for this price is some incredibly smart business from the Gunners. Arsenal are doing the right thing in the transfer window by addressing areas of the squad that needs reinforcements. If they continue this approach, it could lead to a very successful summer.
