Arsenal continued their pursuit of the Champions League as they got past Brentford on Saturday and they have another tough match coming up on Thursday as they host Wolves, so let’s take a look at the predicted lineup.
There was a lot to be happy about for the manager at the weekend as the team played with a lot more fluidity. But they need to continue this run of form as the teams around them can pounce at any given time.
In defence, Arteta’s job is quite easy as the players pick themselves. Aaron Ramsdale will be in goal and Takehiro Tomiyasu is likely to return as the right back. On the left flank, it will be the dependable presence of Kieran Tierney.
As for the centre backs, Ben White and Gabriel have formed a tremendous partnership and their presence is key for the Gunners to pick up the win. Apart from their defensive prowess, it is also the passing they provide that makes a difference.
In central midfield, the choices for the manager are quite easy as well, since both Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka are available. This duo needs to have a lot of the ball to influence the game. If they can do that, it gives the hosts a great chance of picking up the three points.
Emile Smith Rowe continued his wonderful form at the weekend with another goal, so he might be preferred to the now available Gabriel Martinelli. As for the other attackers, it is going to be Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard. These three will carry the bulk of the threat. And it is their contribution that can determine the outcome of the match.
Up front, Arsenal will have their current captain Alexandre Lacazette leading the line. Though the Frenchman is excellent at bringing others into the game, his own goal scoring record needs to improve. Should that happen, the Gunners will find it much easier to notch up another win.
