Arsenal have roared back into the race for the top four and now face a trip across London to face West Ham United, so let’s take a look at the predicted lineup.
The Gunners were not at their best last Saturday but they pulled off an impressive win over arch-rivals Manchester United. With Tottenham failing to win, it has put them two points ahead at the moment.
Aaron Ramsdale will be in goal and would be really keen on getting a clean sheet as the last few games haven’t been great. There should be a change at full-back with Takehiro Tomiyasu coming in for Cedric. On the left, it will be Nuno Tavares whose attacking impetus will be key in breaking the Hammers down.
Ben White and Gabriel will be at the centre of defence and their partnership is important in keeping the hosts at bay. David Moyes’ team has a lot of good attackers and they cannot be given any space.
With Thomas Partey still out, Mohamed Elneny could be given another chance over Albert Sambi Lokonga. The Egyptian offers more security and that is needed against a team that likes to counterattack. Along with Elneny will be Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka who will be full of confidence after scoring a thunderbolt against United.
Though Bukayo Saka had to be substituted last week, he is expected to be back in the starting XI. The Englishman with his quick feet and incisive dribbling is needed to break down the home defence. He along with Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith Rowe will form the attacking trio that will be the platform of the visitor’s attack.
Eddie Nketiah has looked like a threat in all of the games that he has started recently. Against the Hammers, the English forward will look to use his movement to create trouble. If he combines with the three attackers behind him, they can create a lot of chances.
Arsenal have bounced back superbly after suffering three consecutive losses. Now, finishing in the top four is in their hands but the season is not yet over. There are still a few challenges remaining and West Ham are certainly one of them. Getting the three points on Sunday would be a huge boost going forward.
