Arsenal will resume their Premier League campaign as they visit Etihad Stadium to take on defending champions Manchester City, so let’s take a look at the predicted lineup.
The Gunners got back to winning ways after a thumping win over West Bromwich Albion in the EFL cup and will look to continue their momentum from the midweek clash.
The Manchester side lost their opening game of the season but got back to their usual best with a comprehensive victory over Norwich. The north Londoners will have to be on top of their game to secure a good result against the Champions.
Aaron Ramsdale made a solid debut on Wednesday, but Bernd Leno is expected to start in goal. Callum Chambers will return to the squad in place of Cedric Soares. Ben White will miss the game after testing positive for Covid-19.
The center-back pairing will be Pablo Mari and Rob Holding. Mari had a tough time dealing with Romelu Lukaku last week and will have to put in a shift to keep the City attackers at bay. Kieran Tierney will start on the left side of the defense.
Thomas Partey is still out injured, which will see Albert Sambi Lokonga and Granit Xhaka retain their places in the midfield. This pivot will play a crucial role in the game. Martin Odegaard is expected to start his first league game. After a complete 90 minutes under the belt, the Norwegian will be rearing to go again.
Bukayo Saka took a knock to his knee during the game against West Brom. He is available for selection, but Mikel Arteta could start Emile Smith Rowe on the left flank. Nicolas Pepe will start on the opposite flank.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will lead the attack for the Gunners. The hat-trick against Baggies will provide him with much-needed confidence. The club captain should be determined to open his scoring account for the Premier League on Saturday.
Arsenal Predicted Lineup against Manchester City (4-2-3-1):
Bernd Leno, Calum Chambers, Rob Holding, Pablo Mari, Kieran Tierney, Granit Xhaka, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Martin Odegaard, Emile Smith Rowe, Nicolas Pepe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
