Arsenal have a chance to go five points clear of Manchester City as they get ready to face Everton on Wednesday, so let’s take a look at the predicted lineup.
Though the scoreline does not reflect it, the Gunners had a fairly comfortable win over Leicester City. They did not give the Foxes any freedom to attack and that would have been very encouraging to see for the manager.
Aaron Ramsdale added a clean sheet to his tally and would look to get another one against the Toffees. There are not going to be any changes made to the full backs with Ben White on the right and Alex Zinchenko on the left.
As for the centre backs, the north Londoners would hope William Saliba and Gabriel will deal with the aerial bombardment that the visitors will provide. If these two can deal with that, it greatly increases the hosts’ chances of winning.
There was some good news last weekend as Thomas Partey made his return to the team. That should be an indication that the Ghana international is fit and ready to replace Jorginho who has done well. The incoming midfielder will accompany Granit Xhaka in the middle of the park.
Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli who provide the twin threat from the wings would look to damage Everton with their pace and skill. The latter got the winner at the King Power and that will give him a lot of confidence. In between these two is going to be the captain and conductor, Martin Odegaard. The Norwegian would look to get on the ball regularly and break down the visiting defence.
Leandro Trossard was given a chance to start in a central position at Leicester and did really well. His ability to drop deep or drift wide mimicked at least to some degree what Gabriel Jesus is able to do. That should see the Belgian get another start.
Arsenal looked to be in peril when they lost to City a couple of weeks ago. But now, they find themselves in a position where they can put some daylight between them and their nearest challenger. Beating a team managed by Sean Dyche will not be easy but it can be done.
Arsenal Predicted Lineup Against Everton (4-2-3-1):
Aaron Ramsdale. Ben White, William Saliba, Gabriel, Alex Zinchenko, Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka, Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard
