Arsenal welcome Bayern Munich to the Emirates on Tuesday in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final, so let’s take a look at the predicted lineup.
The Gunners notched up another win in the Premier League as they got the better of Brighton and Hove Albion. That and other results over the weekend has ensured that they go into another week as the league leaders.
David Raya will be in goal, and he is sure to have a lot of work to do given the quality of Bayern. As for the full-backs, it will be the duo of Ben White and Alex Zinchenko and the latter in particular will have a lot on his plate defensively.
William Saliba and Gabriel complete the defence and these two have been instrumental in whatever the north Londoners have done. The threat of Harry Kane is looming large but these two have some experience of playing against them.
Jorginho is likely to start again as his ability to keep the game ticking is crucial to getting the tempo going. Declan Rice can play in a more advanced role and his energy and pressing will be crucial in keeping Jamal Musiala quiet. Martin Odegaard completes the rest of the midfield.
Bukayo Saka started and scored at the weekend and that bodes well for the club. Though the winger does not appear to be at his best, having him in the squad is crucial. On the other wing, it will be Gabriel Jesus given that Gabriel Martinelli is still working his way back from an injury.
Kai Havertz has been in great form and will continue to play up front as the central forward. His movement and ability in the air is important to create different scoring avenues. Arteta will hope that his forwards can combine and be clinical in front of goal.
Arsenal have a lot of history against Bayern in this competition and will want to right some wrongs. The players are looking sharp, and the visitors are not in the best of form. All of that goes out of the window in a pressure situation such as this. The hosts need to be calm and trust in what they have been doing well.
