Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has heaped huge praises on Leicester City midfielder N’Golo Kante fueling speculation of a possible move to the Emirates stadium.
The Gunners have been interested in the 25-year-old but it apparently cooled off following the recent acquisition of Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach and it seems Wenger is still interested in him.
The France international who has also attracted the interest of Chelsea is reportedly being offered triple of what he is currently earning at the King Power stadium- and French club Paris Saint-German, has a release clause of £20 million in his contract.
Arsene Wenger has revealed that he is a huge fan of the Frenchman, while also stating that he can do even better. According to Mirror, he said:
“I admire and like N’Golo Kanté a lot. It gives you ideas,” Wenger said. “He gives you the feeling that the higher the level he plays at, the more at eases he is.
“We are talking about numbers. He has the most interceptions in Europe and by far.
“He has incredible quality. He feels the game, only very few people can do that. He’s always where he needs to be. “It is very rare to have that in the central midfielder. Not always orthodox, but always in the right place.”
Kante recently stated that a decision on his future will be made after the European tournament. According to Mirror, he said:
“I am a Leicester player. “For now, I have not taken a decision even if I have been made offers.
“It will be great to play in the Champions League. I will decide my future after the Euros.”
Kante played a prominent role in Leicester’s Premier League title win last season and is also part of the host squad at EURO 2016.
Arsenal has also been linked with his Leicester teammates Jamie Vardy and Algeria international Riyad Mahrez and has already triggered the release on Vardy’s contract.
Arsenal strikers Danny Welbeck and Giroud have both been inconsistent last season. Welbeck was out for a very long time due to injuries while Giroud as always been a hit and miss. Wenger will need to put that to consideration and must sign a striker if he really wants to win the title.
In the light of that, Wenger is considering a move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Roberto Cavani Gómez popularly known has (Edinson Cavani) as reports from Express claims he is set to depart from the French club this summer after rejecting offer from China.
The 29-year-old ace has snubbed a £500k-a-week deal from the Chinese Super League. However, Express understood that perhaps Jamie Vardy move to Arsenal falls Arsenal’s boss will have to move for Cavani has he his desperately in need of a striker.
The Uruguay international who is valued £52m is a top target for Wenger and will be handed a £120k-a-week contract to move to the Emirates. The move for Cavani looks very unlikely considering the amount being discussed, but a move for Kante definitely looks on the cards given how impressed the French coach seems to be with the midfielder.
