Ashley Williams could have made his last appearance for Swansea City in their last match of the season against Manchester City as Arsenal, according to the Sunday Express are targeting the defender.
The Skipper has been linked with the North London club many times and after missing out on Germany international Mats Hummel, who recently signed for Bundesliga champion Bayern Munich, the Premier League runner-up have turned to Swansea centre-back, Williams.
Wenger is reportedly a long-time admirer of the Wales international and he is set to make a bid for this summer.
The Gunners back-line hasn’t been mightily impressive. Per Metersacker is ageing and isn’t in great form and Gabriel Paulista is yet to fully adapt to the demands and pressure of the Premier League.
A bid of £20 million is said to be on the cards to sign Williams with the reports in the Sunday Express stating that Swansea are to listen to offers for their talisman.
The 31-year-old has been instrumental to the resurgence of his club, helping them to gain promotion back to the Premier League in 2011. As per Ben McAleer of Whoscored.com, the player has played 16,270 minutes of a possible 16,920 minutes of Premier League (96.29%) in the last five seasons, which is a good rate for a player of his age. He joined Swansea from Stockport County in 2008 and has made over 300 appearances.
Wenger has also shown interest in Chelsea young defender Fikayo Tomori as per Caughtoffside. It is reported that Wenger is impressed by the youngster abilities and performances and could bid for him.
Tomori was part of Chelsea FA Youth Cup winning team and was voted the club’s Academy Player of the Year. The Canadian U-20 star made his Premier League debut against Liverpool. He can play either as a
right-back or centre-back.
Chelsea is a club that hardly gives their academy product opportunity a chance to flourish in the senior team and the Gunners could take advantage of that to lure him to the Emirates.
It was also reported by the Mirror that in coming Manchester city Pep Guardiola is also planning a raid for Arsenal’s stars Jack Wilshere and Alexis Sanchez.
Guadiola is try to land some couples of players in the midfield to build Manchester city Midfield. Sunday Mirror Sport also claims Guardiola is planning to land Tottenham left-back Danny Rose to the Etihad Stadium.
Wilshere has suffered another season out for a very long time due to injuries and is hoping weather he will feature in Roy Hodgson’s England squad for the Europe 2016.
