If we go by the transfer activity so far this summer it seems Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made signing a striker his priority as most of the transfer rumours have been about the North London club getting a replacement for Danny Welbeck who is said to be out for 9 months.
The Gunners have recently announced that they have agreed on a deal to sign Japanese Takuma Asano from Sanfrecce Hiroshima. However, the youngster is unlikely to make an impact this season, so getting a striker still remains a priority.
We also need some defensive reinforcements this season and it would be great if we can get a top class centre-back as a replacement for German defender Per Mertesacker who is ageing.
Dortmund star defender Neven Subotic is the latest man to be linked with a potential move to the North London and it is not the first time that the Siberian is being linked with a move to the Emirates.
The sport review are citing reports coming out of Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli that Arsenal have contacted Borussia Dortmund about the possibility of luring Subotic to the Emirates this summer.
The Italian journalist Giulianelli claims that the North London outfit have expressed their interest in the Serbia defender Subotic from Dortmund. He tweeted:
Arsenal officials got in touch with Borussua Dortmund last week over Subotic. #breaking #afc #gunners

Arsenal contacts been made to Vardy, Lukaku, Lacazette and Gabigol but nothing has been signed yet. It will heat up once the Euros finish.

The 27-year-old ace has been with the German outfit for about 8 years and has already alerted the German giants that he is looking for a new club this summer.
He said last month:
‘I don’t want to get paid to sit on the bench, I want to take an active part – which is the way it had been up until last season’,
‘Over the past year I’ve realised that my love for football and for playing an active role on the pitch is too big for me to just watch from the outside.’
Personally, I think the centre-back is a position where Wenger needs to put serious consideration as Per Mertesacker isn’t getting younger and Calum Chamber has failed to be consistent despite his potential.
Subotic is already 27, but it is more or less the best age to be a defender and the Serbian also has a good experience at this level of football, so it might not take much time for him to adjust to the physicalities of the English game. If we can bring him to the Emirates, he can be a great foil for Koscielny.
