Barcelona attacker Arda Turan is on the cusp of sealing a move to Arsenal, a report from Turkish publication Haberturk claims.
The 30-year-old received sporadic playing time during the recent La Liga season with former boss Luis Enrique preferring to stick with his star combination.
Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar occupied the front line for the Copa del Rey winners, and Turan was largely used in a rotation policy during the campaign.
Turan managed to amass 13 goals and six assists across all competitions despite being restricted to just 20 starts, and he now appears to be on the move.
New Barca boss Ernesto Valverde has already signalled his intention to rebuild the squad, and Turan is among the leading names who could be shown the exit door in the summer transfer window.
Haberturk suggests that the north London giants are close to sealing a permanent deal for the experienced winger, who arrived from Atletico Madrid for £24m back in the summer of 2015.
Turan is said to have already bought a mansion near Stamford Bridge, but the Gunners are deemed favourites to beat Chelsea to the player with Arsene Wenger desperate to end the club’s long wait for the Premier League title.
Arsenal failed to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in nearly 20 years, but this has not lowered the morale of the long-standing manager, who plans to recruit ‘top top’ players to his ranks in the summer.
Meanwhile, the club’s faithful could be buoyed by the latest speculation which suggests Mesut Ozil could ink a £280,000 a week contract to extend his stay beyond next season.
