Arsenal are reportedly among the clubs who have been contacted regarding the availability of Barcelona’s Denis Suarez ahead of the winter transfer window.
The one-time Spain international has struggled to come anywhere close to the starting lineup for the La Liga duties this term and he has been restricted to just eight minutes of league action.
Amidst this, The Independent claims that the Blaugrana are prepared to sanction his sale when the transfer window reopens and the Gunners are one of the sides, who have been contacted regarding the same.
The Gunners have recently made the decision not to extend the contract of midfielder Aaron Ramsey beyond the current campaign and should their stance remain unchanged, a replacement is likely to be purchased next year.
In this case, Suarez could emerge as a possible candidate which Emery may prefer, given he has previously coached the Spaniard during the midfielder’s solitary loan season with Sevilla during the 2014/15 campaign.
Elsewhere, the player’s price tag also appears a tempting factor with the Blaugrana prepared to accept a fee in the region of £14m while only demanding a sell-on percentage for the future rather than the inclusion of a buy-back clause.
Despite this, there remains no urgency to bolster the midfield for the campaign and Emery may first seek potential reinforcements in the central defence and centre-forward positions where the club have been hampered.
Arsenal are expected to be without centre-back Rob Holding for the campaign with a serious knee problem and the same goes for Welbeck, who has already undergone a double ankle operation to keep him sidelined for the long-term.
