Arsenal have reportedly offered a contract offer to bring Napoli attacker Lorenzo Insigne to the Emirates in the summer. The Italy international has stalled over a fresh contract at Stadio San Paulo.
Insigne, 25, is currently contracted to Napoli until the summer of 2019, but his reluctance to pen an extension has widened speculation over his next move.
According to Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb, the Gunners are willing to offer a package of around €5 million-a-year for the next five seasons as they seek to lure Insigne to north London in the next transfer window.
Napoli have been in contract negotiations with Insigne since the start of the campaign, but they are still some €500,000 short of the annual salary which the player is said to demand to stay until 2022.
Insigne has appeared in all but one league game for the Naples outfit this term, and his tally of 12 goals and seven assists has not gone unnoticed among his suitors.
The Italian currently averages a goal or assist for every 112.5 minutes, and his overall work rate on the player field has impressed the Gunners’ scouts, who have watched him on several occasions over the course of the season.
Both Lucas Perez and Alexis Sanchez are understood to be lining up moves away from the Emirates, and Insigne could be seen as a potential placement for the latter, who looks more keen on a summer exit.
Sanchez has expressed his frustration on and off the playing field in recent months, and his poor attitude has seen his teammates distance themselves from him in the dressing room.
Insigne, who has two years left on his existing deal, is frustrated with the lack of progress over a potential extension, and Napoli could accept a sum of around €45m in order to let go of their asset in the coming transfer window.
