Arsenal have not given up on Monaco starlet Kylian Mbappe and are preparing a club-record bid as they look to beat Real Madrid to the forward’s signing.
The 18-year-old has become one of the most sought after young talents in European football after establishing himself in the Monaco team this season.
Mbappe has been in great form in Ligue 1 this season and has also impressed one and all with his recent performances against Man City in the Champions League.
According to reports in Daily Mail, the North London club are prepared to meet Monaco’s price-tag of €100 million (£85m) to land the forward.
The Gunners will face stiff competition from the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus and Manchester United, but Arsenal have one thing in their favour which other European giants might not be able to be able to offer which is the promise that Mbappe will play every week and that he will play as a centre-forward, while he may be forced out wide at other clubs.
However, Wenger is yet to decide on his long-term future the North London club which might put off any transfer move.
The 18-year-old has impressed with his instincts and raw finishing ability, which is something many strikers dream of even during their peak. He has all of the physical tools you’d expect from a top forward and is effective both in the open space and inside the box.
Wenger’s links with former club Monaco and his standing as a solid talent developer could aid him in the race to land Mbappe but it remains to be seen whether the French manager is ready to spend the big bucks if he signs the contract.
