Arsenal have reportedly signed paperwork on a deal that will see Lucas Torreira join Fiorentina on loan and the midfielder is now traveling to Italy to complete transfer move.
The 25-year-old joined the Gunners in 2018 from Sampdoria and enjoyed a great start to life in north London, featuring in 34 league games in his debut season.
The midfielder’s game time started drying up after the appointment of Mikel Arteta as the new boss. He was shipped out on loan to Atletico Madrid last season, where he made 26 appearances for the Spanish outfit.
Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano claims all the paperwork related to the midfielder’s move to Fiorentina has been signed. The Italian club have agreed to pay a loan fee of €1.5million. The proposed deal also includes an option to make the move permanent for €15million.

Sky Sports are also claiming that Arsenal has agreed on a deal with Fiorentina for Torreira. Eintracht Frankfurt also made an attempt to sign the former Sampdoria player, but his preference was to return to Italy. The deal is expected to be made official by Fiorentina soon.
Arsenal Fever View:
The north Londoners started the new campaign in a disappointing fashion after losing the season opener against Brentford, followed by a defeat to Chelsea at the Emirates. Mikel Arteta will be keen on bolstering his squad before the transfer window closes in a week’s time. They will have to offload several players before bringing in reinforcements.
Torreira was a mainstay in Arsenal’s midfield a couple of years back. The Uruguayan along, with Granit Xhaka, formed a solid midfield pivot and seemed to be the solution to the Gunners’ midfield problems. However, that has not been the case. The 25-year-old failed to settle down in London and that has affected his performance.
It looks like the midfielder is not part of Arteta’s plans, so the club have done a good job in offloading him this summer. Torreira enjoyed the best part of his career in Italy. Therefore, this seems to be a sensible deal for both the player and the club.
