Arsenal manager Unai Emery is reportedly open to the prospect of sanctioning Mesut Ozil’s sale when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.
The former Germany international was surprisingly excluded from the match day for the League Cup quarter final against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.
Emery thereafter clarified that the decision was rather ‘tactical’ than the midfielder suffering an injury setback.
Owing to this, there has been increased speculation whether the German has a future under the Spanish tactician and The Independent claims that the manager would welcome the opportunity to part ways with the player next month.
Earlier in the summer, Ozil had made an early return from his pre-season break with suggestions that the midfielder has been impressed by the tactical measures taken up by the new head coach.
However, that seems to have become the bane at the present moment with Emery seek more pressing and running from the former Real Madrid man – something which has not been regular part of the midfielder’s game.
With the transfer window reopens in 10 days’ time, it will be interesting to see how the future paves for the unsettled midfielder but it would certainly comes as a surprise, if the club part ways with him without a successor in store.
Moreover, his £300,000-a-week wages should prove a stumbling block for most elite clubs around and The Independent suggests that the club may settle for a temporary contract, although that may not prove essential in garnering funds for a probable replacement.
Ozil has managed just one substitute league appearance since the last international break for the Gunners and it remains to be seen whether he can feature from the off when Burnley make the trip to the Emirates Stadium.
