Arsenal manager Unai Emery has refused to confirm whether the Gunners are looking to sign Denis Suarez in the aftermath of the derby league triumph over Chelsea on Saturday.
The Gunners faced a must-win game against the Blues to stay in the race for the top four and they managed to do with success after bagging a 2-0 win to reduce the deficit to just three points between them.
In a report covered by Arsenal.com, Emery was indirectly asked whether Suarez being left out of the Barcelona squad against Leganes has anything to do with the Gunners but the Spaniard refused to comment on the midfielder’s situation.
He said: “The club is working with many situations to help us. I cannot speak about individual players but I know the club is working with different possibilities if they can help us for these next four months.”
The Gunners boss has already confirmed that the club are restricted to temporary deals for the transfer window and that appears the case with Suarez, although there seems a stumbling block with regards to the demands.
Barcelona are willing to permit the departure of Suarez on a temporary basis to the north London side this month but they are understood to want an obligatory buy clause which has yet to be finalised between the clubs involved.
Arsenal’s focus will switch to the FA Cup fourth round on Friday night where they are scheduled to reignite their old rivalry with Manchester United, who have been resurgent under interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Red Devils are on a seven-match winning streak across all competitions under Ole’s tutelage but the Gunners should be well prepared for the challenge after a resolute performance in the derby league win over Chelsea.
