Arsenal have reportedly made a final take-or-leave offer to midfielder Jack Wilshere. The England international has refused to agree to the contract package on the table, and it appears that he may leave on a Bosman in the summer.
According to The Mirror, the 26-year-old is facing the disappointment of leaving the Gunners after spending nearly a decade of his professional career with the club.
Wilshere was apparently offered the chance to leave the north London side during the previous summer transfer window, but he opted to stay put to prove himself under manager Arsene Wenger.
He has since managed to become an influential player in the Gunners ranks, but his future remains in question with his contract expiring in three months’ time.
As per The Mirror, Wilshere has been asked to take a 25 per cent reduction on his current £110,000-a-week wages, and this is something the midfielder does not agree upon.
The Stevenage-born ace had gone through a full medical in December to prove his fitness, and he is discontent with the club’s reluctance to match his demands.
Gunners contract chief Huss Fahmy has made it clear that the club won’t offer anything more than £90,000-a-week on any long-term deal, and Wilshere now seems likely to leave on a free transfer.
Wilshere is presently of interest to both Juventus and AC Milan, who are said to be prepared to lure him to the Serie A, but the midfielder could prefer to remain in the English top-flight.
As a result, Everton are said to be favourites to acquire his services, whilst the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City are also deemed to be monitoring his proceedings.
