Arsenal are once again going to try and sign Barcelona goalkeeper Neto as per a report from Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.
The Brazilian has been the back-up for the Catalan giants ever since moving from Valencia in the summer of 2019 as a replacement for Jasper Cillessen. Though he has only made a few appearances, the 32-year-old has proven to be dependable.
According to the report, the player is keen on leaving the Catalan giants this summer. Mikel Arteta believes that Neto would be a good fit in north London mainly due to his distribution.
After trying and failing to agree on a deal in January, the north Londoners are back in the mix for a potential transfer. Mundo Deportivo also state that Arsenal will face competition from their fierce rivals Tottenham to sign him.
And the report also mentions that the Brazilian’s agent considers the Emirates to be the most viable option for the player. Despite determination from the English side, there is a long way to go before this potential deal gets completed.

If the Gunners indeed sign Neto, it would provide some good competition for Bernd Leno and the Brazilian would become the back-up that Arteta is looking for. Alex Runarsson seems to be on his way out of the club and Arthur Okonkwo has been cited as the third-choice keeper.
This leaves one spot left among the shot-stoppers and the 32-year-old is thought to be the man to fill that role. Having the experience of playing across the biggest leagues in Europe will serve the Barca man well. And the keeper’s distribution will be an asset for the north Londoners who like to play out from the back.
It is important that Arteta gets the players that he wants for the team to reach greater heights. And the style of play that the Spaniard likes to employ needs certain kinds of players to be involved. Arsenal have identified Neto as a player that can improve the team and if they do push hard, an agreement with Barcelona is certainly possible. The veteran keeper would add an injection of quality.
