Arsenal are reportedly eyeing a winter move for PSV Eindhoven winger Hirving Lozano. The Mexico international has been earmarked as a potential replacement for contract rebel Alexis Sanchez.
Sanchez, 28, has just eight months remaining on his Gunners contract, and he appears more likely to leave the Emirates rather than extend his present deal.
According to Football.London, Lozano has been closely monitored by Gunners scouts since the start of the campaign, and the Mexican is seen as a probable successor to Sanchez on the left-wing.
Lozano’s strengths lie on his excellent crossing abilities as well as raw pace, and this has captured the attention of the north London side, who are likely to lose Sanchez next summer.
The 22-year-old joined the Dutch champions from native club Pachuca only last summer, and he has made an instant impact with nine goals in just eight league outings, as per ESPN.
Despite the interest, it is suggested that PSV Eindhoven are unlikely to let go of their attacker on the cheap and they will reportedly hold out for his release clause – which stands at £30m.
A number of Eredivisie-based players including Vincent Janssen and Luuk de Jong have failed to make impact in the Premier League in the past, and it will be interesting to see whether Lozano finds his feet, should he make a move.
AS Monaco’s Thomas Lemar was close to sealing a club-record £90m switch to the Emirates last summer, and the Frenchman could be another option – although he is on the expensive side with an apparent dip in form.
