To this point, all the rumours have been linking Carlos Bacca with a move to Olympic Stadium. West Ham are reportedly very interested in the 29-year-old Columbian.
West Ham United have been strongly linked with a €30 million(£26m) move for the 29-year-old hitman this summer but the Hammers are unable to offer him Champions League football and that could sabotage the deal with Gunners now willing to bid the same, according to reports in the Express.
Napoli’s asking price of £80 million for Gonzalo Higuain has now reportedly turned Wenger’s attention to the Colombian.
He scored 18 goals in 38 games last season for A.C Milan which wasn’t bad considering it was his first season at the San Siro. To score 18 goals in the first season in Serie A is like scoring 25 goals in most of the leagues because of the defensive side of the Italian teams are so good and they really specialise in defense over in Italy.
Carlos Bacca himself spoke to Spanish newspaper AS saying
“It’s my dream to play in it and I work for it.”
The report originated from Italian newspaper La Gazzetta Dello Sport who are linking Carlos Bacca with Arsenal as the Hammers are unable to offer him Champions League football.
Bacca was a big part of Sevilla winning the Europa League twice in his two-year stay. His positioning is excellent as his ability to time his run off the shoulder of the last defender.
With the likes of Mesut Özil, Santi Cazorla, Alexis Sánchez and Aaron Ramsey creating chances for Bacca, it would certainly be considered an awesome addition which would compliment the style of play of Arsenal.
Arsenal’s need for a new striker has become all the more pressing with Danny Welbeck out until February with injury and Olivier Giroud not due to return until August after his participation with France at Euro 2016.
Alexis Sanchez is also a fitness worry having injured his ankle at the Copa America with Chile. Currently, Chuba Akpom, Yaya Sanogo, and Theo Walcott are the Gunners’ only fit forwards back in training with the club.
Arsene Wenger is in the market for a new striker and I think Bacca would fit perfectly with the whole squad and make his dream of playing in the Champions League come true. He is a quality striker who has surprisingly not been mentioned too frequently in the global transfer gossip networks so far.
What do you guys think ? Would you be happy if Arsenal signed Bacca instead of Higuain ?
