Arsenal could reportedly revive their interest in signing Christopher Nkunku from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer with Denis Suarez having failed to impress following his mid-season loan move.
Nkunku was earmarked as one of the potential targets during the winter transfer window, but the failure to convince Les Parisiens into a sale meant that Suarez was pursued from Barcelona on loan with the option to buy.
According to The Sun, the north London giants are said to have retained their pursuit of Nkunku after scouts kept a close watch on his proceedings during Les Parisiens’ 4-0 win over Dijon earlier in the month.
Nkunku, who has made just 10 league starts for Les Parisiens this term, has shown his versatility of playing in different midfield positions, while also featuring on the right side of the attack.
As such, he suits the type of player Emery is after, and it remains to be whether the club can convince Les Parisiens into a sale when the transfer window reopens.
Elsewhere, Suarez’s future with Arsenal could be hanging in the balance, given he has been restricted to just six substitute appearances since his winter loan move from the Camp Nou.
The ex-Manchester City graduate was highlighted as a candidate, who can take up the Aaron Ramsey role following the Welshman’s Bosman exit in the summer, but he has so far failed to convince Emery to reward him with a starting berth.
Should things remain unchanged, the club are likely to bypass the option to buy him in the summer with Nkunku now identified as the prime choice to bolster the attack front ahead of the 2019/2020 season.
