Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is reported to have identified his top transfer options ahead of a potentially busy summer transfer window.
The Frenchman’s future has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks, but this has not ended the club’s pursuit of top-class recruits under the long-standing manager.
According to The Mirror, Wenger has underlined his intention to sign the former Caen graduate following his standout campaign for the Principality outfit this term.
Lemar, who started initially as a holding midfielder, has managed to exhibit his versatility at Stade Louis II after having pushed into an advanced attacking role while preferring the left-wing position.
The Frenchman has contributed 12 goals and 11 assists for Leonardo Jardim’s side, who recently bowed out at the semi-final stage of the Champions League.
Monaco are also on course to lift the Ligue 1 title after a 17-year wait, and this is unlikely to keep their young squad intact with a host of top elite clubs vying for their services.
As per Mirror, Wenger is keen to add more options in the centre of the park, and this has urged him to consider a move for Lemar, though striker Kylian Mbappe also remains on their radar.
Lemar was offered to the Gunners for a bargain price in the summer of 2015 before he joined Monaco for around £2m and the club will now have to cough up at least 12 times the sum in order to pursue his signature.
The young attacker earned international recognition with France earlier in the year after his impressive showing for Monaco in both the domestic and European competitions this term.
Both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil have been reluctant to extend their contracts beyond the end of the next season, and Lemar could potentially replace one of the duo this summer.
