Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has confirmed that they are in advanced talks with a foreign club for Manuel Locatelli but Arsenal fans aren’t too excited with the update despite the club being heavily linked with the player.
The midfielder has been a star at the Euros for Italy where his energy and technical ability have been a delight to watch. It was earlier reported that the Gunners have made a bid for the 23-year-old but there has been no update regarding that until now.
On his Twitter account, Romano posted a statement from the Sassuolo CEO. It said:
“We’re in talks for Locatelli with one club from abroad… and it’s really advanced. We’re gonna meet with Juventus in the next days, but there are no negotiations yet with Juve as Italian clubs are in difficult financial situation”.

This was not met with much excitement from the Gunners fans. Here are some of the best reactions:
Yeah obviously. If Locatelli would want to join Arsenal we would already have a done deal. But they just use Arsenal to put pressure on Juventus so that they meet their demands.

Soon he will say “Arsenal have signed the player, but we’re waiting to meet with juve.”

Sassuolo Director will come out next week and say the team abroad have agreed terms with us for Locatelli but we are meeting Juve in the next few days 😂

Arsenal Fever View
In all probability, this statement from the club CEO is just a way to hurry up Juventus into giving them what they want. There have been reports that Locatelli would prefer to go to Turin which makes it harder for the Gunners to sign him.
From a squad point of view, the Italian midfielder would be a perfect addition to the team. With Granit Xhaka set to move to Roma, the Sassuolo star will be the ideal replacement for the Swiss captain.
The 23-year-old is capable of pinging passes all over the field and can protect the defence as well. This makes the midfielder the right kind of partner for Thomas Partey. Both have certain similarities to their game and when combined will take the Gunners up several notches.
But before fans and those around the club get too excited, it would be better to take this update with a pinch of salt. There are more chances of the player going to Juventus and building up hopes of seeing the Italy international at the Emirates may end in disappointment. If by some chance, Arsenal do manage to pull off the signing of Locatelli, it would be a game-changer. The Gunners would be getting someone who can transform their midfield and improve it considerably.
