The January transfer window has opened and it seems that Arsenal are going to be more active than people thought.
There are a lot of names that are making the rounds with regards to the Gunners but one surprising name has popped up. Andreas Pereira who plays for Manchester United is said to be a target for the North London club.
According to reports in UOL(via Metro) claims that Pereira has received offers from Premier League clubs Arsenal, Everton and West Ham United.
Given that he hasn’t played much this season, his stock has fallen a little and his value according to TransferMarket would be a little more than £7m. This is nothing compared to the some of the prices that are being quoted around in the market today.
The 22-year-old’s contract will expire at the end of the current season and his limited opportunities at Old Trafford has resulted in him looking to play elsewhere.
He was hugely impressive last season where he was on loan playing for Valencia in the Spanish League. Pereira was able to showcase his talent and versatility and became a vital component of the Spanish team.
While it looked like it would be the breakthrough for his career with Manchester United, he has simply not played enough to show what he can do. Jose Mourinho, in particular, did not seem to be impressed with him and as a result of that, he has played only seven games so far.
Though the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to improve his chances, the player does not seem to be so sure. He is at an age where he should be playing on a regular basis.
At Arsenal, he is sure to find more chances especially given the fact that Aaron Ramsey is on the verge of leaving the club. Pereira has the ability to play in the center of midfield as well as on the wings and this is something that manager Unai Emery will like.
