Arsenal could retain their interest in Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang following his decision to leave the German club in the summer.
The Gabon international enjoyed his best season with the Dortmund giants last term as he amassed 40 goals across all competitions while lifting the DFB Pokal Cup.
In spite of this, the club have fallen well short of the Bundesliga title, and he is now eager to pursue a fresh challenge in a bigger league next season.
According to The Mail, the Gunners could retain their long-term interest in the experienced striker this summer following a failed attempt for his signature last summer.
Arsene Wenger is due to be rewarded with a £150m transfer kitty to bring in new recruits, and it is suggested that he could spend the sum in full in order to rebuild his squad.
A number of first-team players including Mathieu Debuchy, Carl Jenkinson and Joel Campbell are expected to leave the Emirates, and this could free up sufficient wages in order to satisfy Aubameyang’s demands.
Aubameyang has repeatedly iterated his dream to play for European champions Real Madrid, but a move looks highly unlikely this summer with Zinedine Zidane more focused on other options – including Gunners target Kylian Mbappe.
The FA Cup finalists are likely to break their current transfer record to sign up a top-class striker, and they could be willing to offer as much as £60m in order to lure Aubameyang to the Premier League.
Apart from Aubameyang, the likes of Mbappe, Riyad Mahrez and Kingsley Coman are also on Wenger’s radar as he seeks to make a couple of marquee signings ahead of the 2017/18 season.
